Use of a Digital Scribe at The Grange Clinic, Chester
Supporting Accurate, High-Quality Care
At The Grange Clinic, we use a secure NHS-approved digital scribe to help clinicians create clear and accurate notes during your consultation. This technology supports high-quality care by reducing the time clinicians spend typing and allowing them to focus more fully on you.
What Is a Digital Scribe?
A digital scribe is a secure tool that listens to your consultation and produces a draft summary of what was discussed. Your clinician then checks, edits and approves the note before it becomes part of your medical record.
The digital scribe does not:
• Make decisions
• Diagnose or give medical advice
• Add anything to your record without clinician approval
How Your Information Is Protected
We take your privacy and data security very seriously.
- The system is used in accordance with NHS England’s 2025 guidance on AI-enabled ambient scribing.
- All processing complies with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
- Audio is processed securely and is not retained after the draft note is created (unless otherwise stated in our privacy notice).
- Only authorised NHS systems or secure, contracted platforms handle information.
- Your clinician remains fully responsible for the accuracy of your medical record.
For more details, you can read our full AI Scribe Policy and Privacy Notice (links can be added here).
Your Choice
Using the digital scribe is completely optional.
You can:
- Agree to its use
- Decline at any time
- Change your mind during the consultation
Your care will not be affected if you choose not to use the digital scribe.
What to Expect at Your Appointment
At the start of your consultation, your clinician may say:
“I’m using a secure NHS-approved digital scribe to help create my notes. I will check and edit everything before it’s saved. You can opt out at any time. Is that okay with you?”
Why We Use a Digital Scribe
- Improves the clarity and accuracy of clinical documentation
- Allows clinicians to give you more attention during the appointment
- Reduces administrative workload so we can offer more clinical time
