Laser treatments at the grange clinic

the only PRIVATE clinic to offer this treatment in the uk

The Smart Xide Fractional CO2 Laser treats textural changes in the skin. At The Grange Clinic we use this for improving scar quality (eg acne scars, traumatic or surgical scars), tightening loose or wrinkled skin from certain conditions such as infantile haemangioma, and removing small or surface skin lesions such as skin tags, epidermal naevus, seborrhoeic keratosis.

The Vas-Q Pulsed Dye Laser treats red marks such as spider naevi, telangiectasia, rosacea, portwine stain (capillary malformation), cherry angioma, red scars, segmental haemangioma.

HOW DO THE LASERS WORK

Lasers work using a concentrated form of light. The wavelength (colour) of light used in each type of laser machine is designed to treat a ‘target’ of a particular colour. This allows us to selectively destroy the cause of the problem with minimal damage to the surrounding tissue.
For the Vas-Q laser, the target is haemaglobin in the blood vessels which are causing the red discolouration. Using the laser causes heat damage only the red target, without burning the surface of the skin.
The CO2 is designed to target water molecules in the skin which heats and burns all layers of the skin.
Fractional CO2 laser is designed to cause extremely small, very targeted burns, making tiny ‘holes’ in the skin. This stimulates your body’s healing process which produces collagen, making the treated area more plump and pliable, without causing any scarring itself. CO2 laser can be used in a different mode to burn away unwanted tissue (for example a mole). It is very precise and allows the surgeon to remove only the abnormal tissue, thereby minimising the size of the resulting scar.

WHY WOULD I WANT A LASER TREATMENT?

Red marks on the skin can be quite noticeable, making people feel self-conscious and can also attract unwanted comments. Some larger red marks can also feel hot and uncomfortable.
Laser is a very effective way to reduce redness.
Certain conditions such as Portwine stain (capillary malformation) can become thicker and produce blood blisters. Current medical thinking is that laser-treated areas are less likely to do this.

Pain Level and Recovery at The Grange Clinic

At The Grange Clinic, we prioritize your comfort during and after laser treatments. With the Pulsed Dye Laser, you can expect a sensation similar to a quick, manageable snap, like a gentle elastic band on your skin. Should you desire extra comfort, our options include numbing cream and cooled air during the procedure. Most clients are pleasantly surprised by how well they tolerate it. For the Fractional CO2 Laser, which feels more like a pinprick with occasional warmth, we routinely employ numbing cream to ensure your experience is as painless as possible. Ablative CO2 laser treatments can be adjusted to your preference, using numbing cream or a local anesthetic injection for personalised comfort. While some heat and itchiness may follow the treatment, it usually subsides within 20 minutes, and any visible reactions are temporary.

Recovery from our laser treatments is designed to be minimally disruptive to your daily routine. You can generally return to work right away, with minimal downtime. The Pulsed Dye Laser may lead to mild bruising and temporary swelling, but these effects are short-lived. Makeup can be applied if desired, although the skin may remain a bit more sensitive than usual for a few weeks. To protect your skin post-treatment, we advise the use of SPF 50 sunscreen and avoiding sun exposure for at least six weeks. Additionally, activities that are harsh on the skin, like hot tubs and chlorinated pools, should be avoided for the first two weeks.

With our expert care and guidance, you should experience minimal discomfort and maximum satisfaction after your laser treatment at The Grange Clinic.
